Happy Friday ladies and gents! It’s going to be another rainy and stormy weather in So-Cal, so that’s exciting …. not. Anyway, yesterday I reviewed a Korean skin care product that I am currently liking and using, so today I’m back to review another Korean beauty product by popular demand, haha! 🙂
It is the SKIN 79 Super+ Beblesh Balm Triple Functions (Pink BB Cream) w/SPF 30 PA++. This particular one I have is the updated version and you can tell it is the updated version because the container’s accent colors are in gold. I bought mine at YesStyle sometime in December 2016, so I’ve had this for a few months now. I actually purchased it for $11.21 when it was being promoted on final clearance.
Anyway, this isn’t the first BB cream I’ve owned. My very first one was actually the L’egere UV Whitening BB Cream w/SPF 34 and I got that one while I was still in high school! Ugh, so many years ago!!! After that, I have also tried the Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream w/SPF 42 and then the Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream w/SPF 30. I have also tried a few Korean BB Cushions, but I’m not going in detail on any of those for today’s post 🙂 Now back to the Skin 79 BB cream review!
This bb cream claims that it is whitening, anti-wrinkle, and protects you from harmful ultraviolet rays. It also promises to deliver oil control and has a matte finish. If I recall correctly this product only comes in 1 shade. The idea is that it’s supposed to be a one size fits all product and as your skin oxidizes, it is supposed to adjust to your natural skin tone and color. Unfortunately, I did not find this product to live up to its promises! For the record, I have tried to use this on several occasions.
As you can see, the product comes out pretty thick. The color is beige but has some grey tint to it. I’m sorry that I couldn’t take a nicer picture with better lighting, but in person you’d know exactly what I’m talking about. Throughout the years, I have found that it is very common for Korean bb creams to have a grey tone and cast …
In this picture you can see the grey tones better. Even when I apply this bb cream very thinly with a damp beauty sponge, it does not go away. It applies even worst if you just use your fingers or brush! I even tried putting on my tinted finishing powder that is a perfect match to my current skin tone and the grey tone and cast is still obvious! With how oily my skin is and how fast face products usually oxidize with my skin, this did not melt to match my skin tone in any way, shape, or form and it never controlled my oiliness. If anything, it made my oily skin much worst! Even after a long day and multiple touch ups with my blotting sheets and tinted powder, I did not see any of the promises living up to its name. Usually, I have problems with products slipping or sliding or even disappearing throughout the day because of how oily my face gets, but this one, just sat on top of my skin and turned more grey! On top of that, I broke out like crazy every time I used this. I tried to use this multiple times because of the good reviews from many YouTube beauty gurus and friends who have liked this bb cream, but it just didn’t work out for me.
All in all, I would give this product 1 out of 5 stars.
Pros: Bottle comes with a pump
Cons: Did not control oil, did not have a matte finish, it has a grey tone and cast, caused break outs, only comes in 1 shade, thick consistency, sat on top of my skin and didn’t sink in
Overall, I do not recommend this to people with very oily and acne prone skin like me. With that said, I am still on the hunt for a good Korean bb cream, do you have any recommendations? I’m open for suggestions!
Enjoy your Friday, thanks for stopping by! Until next time …
