Hi there! I went to go watch The Lion King musical at the Civic Theatre in Downtown San Diego and it was awesome! It ran for about 2 hours and 45 minutes including intermission, but every single scene of the show was entertaining.
I believe this is my 4th live musical that I’ve watch thus far (not counting high school plays of course), including Aladdin, Phantom of the Opera, and The Nutcracker. I really enjoy watching plays and musicals because they are full of life, colors, and overall just positive energy.
My favorite part were all the scenes that had both Mufasa and Simba in it. I was a sucker for their father and son bonding and unconditional love for each other. I was really close to shedding a tear when Mufasa died, as well as, when he appeared in front of Simba to give him some words of wisdom when Simba was contemplating whether or not to return to his kingdom and resume his rightful place as a King!
I think their father and son relationship appealed strongly to me because I can relate. I thought of Yuna the whole time and our version of mother and daughter relationship … and let me tell ya, there’s nothing like a parent’s unconditional love for their child.
I encourage you all to see this musical if you can, or any musical for that matter. I’m sure you will enjoy it as much as I did! I’m giving this a 5 out of 5 stars! The songs, stage set, costume/props, and acting were all on point.
I have so much respect for broadway/theatrical performers because they are super talented (they could sing, dance, and act) and they perform live. They must be under a lot of pressure all the time, because they can’t simply redo the whole performance right then and there if they make a mistake, you know what I mean? I can just imagine the amount of practice they must’ve gone through day in and day out in order to put this whole show together. That’s dedication right there!
Anyways, I have made a list of the upcoming musicals/plays/shows I plan to see in the near future, so stay tuned for my thoughts about them and stuff. Goodnight for now! XOXO.
